Announcing the GIS\Key Reader

GIS\Solutions announces the release of the GIS\Key Reader (download - requires a user-name and password, call GIS\Solutions for info).

Modeled after the Adobe Acrobat Reader, the Reader allows the distribution of project data or portions of the data to other environmental professionals who can then view or output, but not edit, project data with an easy-to-use software module. The Reader allows for off-site distribution of project data on an as needed basis.

The Reader uses an encrypted, password-protected database designed to work with a simplified version of the Scout Reporting Tools. A GIS\Key Software Suite power user authors data into a Reader (.GISKEY) file in a process very much like creating a .PDF file. The procedure is simple:

  1. A GIS\Key user creates a Reader Archive (selects 'Project' - 'Archive' - 'Create' from the Scout Project Manager).
  2. This creates a file with a '.giskey' extension which can be distributed via email or cdrom.
  3. Anybody with the GIS\Key Reader double-clicks the archive to start the Reader Program. They now can create outputs using the standard GIS\Key Reporting Tools.

Power users control Reader file contents by project, sites, dates, and themes (e.g. only wells in Area of Concern One for this quarter). Power users can can also control the query options by hiding unused tabs (e.g. hiding the 'Reporting Limits' tab if Limit 1 should always be used).

GIS\Key Reader users can select data using simplified query tools, create a variety of reports and export data as TXT, DBF, XLS, WK1, and MDB formats.
The GIS\Key Reader is so simple to use that no training is required beyond perusing the Help file.

The GIS\Key Reader is available at a fraction of the cost of the full version of GIS\Key. It is free for regulators. It is also free for existing users of GIS\Key (if installed on a computer that already has GIS\Key). It can also be available at a discount or for free if GIS\Solutions does your data management.
