Scout™ Project Manager for the GIS\Key Software Suite

GIS\Solutions' 32-bit Windows interface software offers an entirely new approach to project management. The Scout Project Manager uses a familiar Windows explorer metaphor that appears at start-up and helps users find and access existing projects and work products, start new projects, browse data and initiate queries that result in reports, maps and other graphics. Scout also controls project security and your GIS\Solutions product mix.

Document and File Management

The Scout Project manager stores, views and opens:

  • Crystal report tables,
  • Graphs,
  • Maps,
  • Logs, Cross-Sections, and
  • Microsoft Office files (e.g., Word, Excel)

The Scout Reporting Tools featuring SmartQuery™ Technology

All GIS\Key™ modules are equipped with this unique technology. Logical and fast, these client tools drill down through any project data by giving users information on what conditions can be set and how the filtered data looks at any time during the query. SmartQuery allows users to browse queried data sets, or use them to produce maps, graphs, reports and any exports of that data set from one integrated client tool. Users can change query conditions without restarting the Reporting Tool. Users are also told when the data can be used to make a map, graph or report. Queries can be saved and used again.

The GIS\Key™ System's Client Tools and Applications

After one-time data entry, the query technology and other integrated client tools of GIS\Key automate the production of compliance and validation reports, graphs, maps, sections, boring logs and diagrams. Complete integration also means that GIS\Key:

  • Eliminates the need for exports to third party system to perform its functions. AutoCAD, AutoCAD Map or ArcView is the only third party software required. GIS\Key™ does not export the graphics/mapping platform: GIS\Key™ customizes and automates the graphical platform for its environmental queries, map and graphics applications. When working with a site map, users can quickly visualize many site conditions and make changes directly on the map or launch another query, without waiting for data to be exported. Users can also access extensive automated drawing management capabilities to make their own interpretations of the data.

  • Automates interdisciplinary visualizations, such as chemistry and hydrology in section view and flux graphs.

  • Provides faster data access and more comprehensive visualizations and than any products that rely on exports to third party software.

GIS\Solutions' Scout, database, mapping and drawing management tools are database independent, i.e., can be customized to work with other existing database engines and with data structures that are not the standard commercial GIS\Key™ structure.

The Spatial Data Manager™, A GIS\Key Oversight Tool in the ArcView, AutoCAD or AutoCAD Map Environment

The first complete and automated environmental oversight tool, SDM helps users manage, view, and analyze hundreds of projects and maps without wading through numerous reports and source data. SDM uses coordinate geometry to automatically save, or locate and retrieve, work products ("metadata") automatically archived by GIS\Key™ version 3.x, plus data about how those work products were defined and created. This geocoding and retrieval process is independent of a project's source data and uses a single reporting format to recover work products from site maps or photographs. Work products currently processed by SDM are:

  • Chemistry, Geology and Hydrology Maps

  • Cross-Sections

  • Boring Logs

  • Any ArcView project, document or theme.

SDM provides solutions to every phase of an environmental investigation - from assessment and remediation to on-going compliance monitoring, agency notification and public relations. SDM turns single-use work products into building blocks for scalable, multi-site solutions. SDM provides this capability with a simple, user-friendly browser interface. SDM also:

  • Stores and retrieves spatial data generated outside GIS\Key™.

  • Can be customized to automatically geocode and retrieve any type of work product, such as graphs and reports.

  • Is designed to run on several GIS platforms.

  • Can be used with an Internet Map-Server for large user communities.

SDM helps managers to quickly understand the status of subsurface contamination problems for multiple sites within a geographic area, as well as how this information relates to facility, air quality, demographic, marketing and other types of map-based data.
