GIS\Key™ Add-Ons

In addition to the GIS\Key™ system, GIS\Solutions offers other software modules that complement the GIS\Key™ system. These include:

GIS\Key™ Statistics Module (StatMod)

StatMod is a powerful add-on to GIS\Key™. It is a Windows application that allows the user, in a matter of minutes, to easily perform a wide variety of statistical tests on chemistry data stored in GIS\Key™. Over twenty-five different statistical calculations can be quickly and easily performed using StatMod's intuitive user interface.

StatMod is installed as an additional output "button" on the GIS\Key™ chemistry reporting tool "output bar". Therefore, all the advantages of GIS\Key's integrated SmartQuery™ system, plus pre-defined filters such as Site Groups, Template Constituent Lists, Reporting Constituent Lists, Preparation Fractions, and Program Codes are immediately available to Stat Mod users. These features enable users to quickly pick the sites and chemicals required for statistical analysis.

Some of the output options from StatMod include calculations of: arithmetic and log means, degrees of freedom, standard deviation and log standard deviation, upper 95% confidence interval, coefficients of variation, and minimum and maximum concentrations. A variety of output options are available for viewing your data and for viewing the results of your statistical calculations. These output options include Excel, Lotus, database files, tab-delimited ASCII files, Crystal Reports and on-screen browsing. You therefore have complete control over which data to use, which statistical tests to use and the format of the finished product.

GIS\Key ArcView Interface

With the GIS\Key ArcView Interface, project managers have total access to all maps and data created by a data management and technical team and can easily and immediately make customized queries and call up statistics, "what if" scenarios, and contour maps.

Environmental data management requirements are becoming more and more sophisticated as the quantities and types of data collected at hazardous waste sites become greater and more diverse. Sophistication has increased so much that specialists are needed to run the software and become dedicated to projects and their databases. This trend has resulted in leaving the Project Manager, who is generally less versed in operating the relational databases and geographic systems, dependent on his/her Data Manager for access and manipulation of a project database.

The System

A data access system has been written specifically for the Project Manager to overcome the technical learning curve that has, up to this point, limited his/her use of project databases for presentations and running "what-if" scenarios. Using Environmental Systems Research Institute's (ESRI) ArcView software and its programming language, we have written a user-friendly, GIS interface that allows Project Managers to spatially view, query, and publish products generated by more complex GIS/CAD software and/or other database software. This interface uses existing data structures and taps directly into them, allowing for a seamless integration of multiple software packages.

Features

With this system, the Project Manager now has total access to all the maps, figures, and tables created by the data management and technical team, and can also run, in real time, statistics, what-if scenarios, contour maps, and custom queries and reports.
